WELCOME TO DEFCON-1

WHAT IS DEFCON-1?

It is Empire’s Vibe wrapped up in a Deadlift Only Competition with all the trimmings of a Pro-Level Event, designed for our up + coming Athletes in both Powerlifting + Strongman!

Our vision is for Amateur Athletes at every level, to experience the BUZZ that comes with competing in the big-time + to get a taste for how exciting the Community that surrounds them, actually is.

Essentially – we want you to feel like you are there to put on a show + know what it feels like to be celebrated!

It’s a Deadlift Competition where anything goes – EXCEPT lock out is required + you can’t dump or drop the bar!

Cash Prizes are awarded to Category Winners: Juniors, Masters, Women + Men using DOTS. This means, the highest DOTS wins!

DEFCON-1 EQUIPMENT

DEFCON-1 is a nod to the anything goes, hard + fast vibe with all the trimmings so we will be using a Powerlifting “Power Bar” + Goliath Calibrated Steel Weight Plates.

You will be lifting on our 3M x 3M Carpeted Lifting Platform with the BEST Loading + Spotting Team around, including a Tech Desk for your attempt submissions + 3 Referees.

DEFCON-1 RULES

In a Competition where “anything goes” we do need to have caveats to that (naturally).

What you are permitted to use in terms of equipment is as follows:

  • Deadlift Suits
  • Lifting Straps
  • Hitching + Lapping
  • Sumo or Conventional
  • Salts + Slaps

You are required to:

  • Wear at a minimum socks or foot coverings if not wearing shoes (for hygiene purposes)
  • Wear shin-high socks + something form-fitting so our Referees can see you + the Barbell
  • Lock OUT – Knees, Hips + Shoulders in an obvious Locked Out + controlled finished position
  • Strap yourself in (you may ask someone to give you salts, but strap in is the Competitor’s responsibility)
  • Weigh In + have the clothing + gear that you are competing in, inspected. If you have any questions about this, please email Killer @ Reception.

WHAT ABOUT?

Soft Suits are not required – IYKYK! Wear something comfortable, if you have a Softsuit + want to wear it – FANTASTIC (it makes our Ref’s jobs easier if you do) but it’s no biggie if you don’t.

Don’t rock up in baggy pants + running sneakers as you will be asked to remove said clothing.

REGISTRATION + WEIGH-INS

Registration is required by completing the form below + making payment via the link provided to you by our Operations Team.

DEFCON-1 requires a 2 Hours Weigh-In, which means, as the Competition kicks off at 3PM, you will be required to weigh in at 1PM at Empire that day.

We may elect to have 2 – 3 Flights / Sessions to accommodate all Competitors, so your weigh ins will be prioritised in order of the Lifting Schedule that will be emailed to you 2 weeks prior to the Competition.

FULL DISCLOSURE: The cost of your registration is pooled to provide Cash Prizes to the Category Winners.

    WAIVER RELEASE & INDEMNIFICATION In consideration of the acceptance of my participation in events with Jeriyah Projects Pty Ltd trading as The Empire Bodyshop (referred to herein as “The Empire Bodyshop”). 1. I waive all claims that I may have against The Empire Bodyshop, its officers, directors, members, volunteers, employees, agents and sponsors, or its executors, administrators, heirs, successors or assigns (the organisers), and release them from all claims for death, injury or damage arising out of my participation in their club, their event and its related activities, together with any costs, including legal fees. 2. I agree to indemnify and keep indemnified the organisers against damage arising out of my participation in the events and its related activities. 3. I agree to comply with all the rules, regulations and instructions of the organisers. 4. In the event of injury or illness during participation, I consent to receive medical treatment, which may be deemed advisable by the organisers. 5. I acknowledge that I have sole responsibility for my personal possessions and equipment during all the events and activities. 6. I hereby permit the free use of my name and picture in any broadcasts, telecasts and the press including website as they pertain to The Empire Bodyshop their events and activities. 7. I understand that my entry fee is non-transferable and non-refundable. In the unlikely event that I can no longer participate in the Event I am registered for, I am responsible for notifying the Empire Directors no less than fourteen (14) days prior to the Event. 8. I agree to have my personal details recorded and used by The Empire Bodyshop and related parties for further communications of future related events. I acknowledge that the above information will be stored on paper and electronically in The Empire Bodyshop Competition Register and that any information may be provided to relevant branches, Sport Integrity Australia, Directors of The Empire Bodyshop and other bodies or parties as necessary for participation and the maintenance of my membership to The Empire Bodyshop. Information will not be disclosed to any other person or party without my written permission. I may gain access to my information by contacting the Company Directors. THE EMPIRE GAMES FAQS

HOW DID THE EMPIRE GAMES START?

The Empire Games were born amidst the 2020 Covid Lockdown Restrictions out of desperation for Connection + continuing Momentum for our Crew at the time.

As you would have experienced yourself during this time, the feeling of loneliness, isolation + helplessness, we too felt it + saw our Crew suffering because of it.

The Empire Games were designed to include any of our Crew at every entry level possible, a Team Competition of all Team Competitions – an opportunity to bring our Crew back together + give them something to look forward to!

Since then, The Empire Games have grown into one of the biggest Competitions at Empire which sees all walks of life teaming up; from Grandma + Granddad to Juniors, Mums, Dads, Powerlifters + Strong(wo)man.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Empire Games are comprised of 16 Events that are announced over the months leading up to Game Day. What will be announced are the Events, but Teams are not told how the Event will run, nominated weights, the Event Sequence or how each Event will be scored; until Game Day.

When Teams arrive onsite on Game Day, all Teams will be told the Event Sequence, Scoring etc at the same time + be given 10 minutes to select the appropriate Team Member to complete that Event.

HOW DO THE GAMES WORK?

The Empire Games are broken into 4 Key Stages, with 4 Events within each Stage.

A maximum of 1 Event per Stage is to be completed by a Single Team Member. I.E.; 1 Team Member cannot complete more than 1 Event per Stage, all Team Members must be allocated an Event each.

Events will be scored across all Teams, with each Team’s Stage Scores tallied at the end of the Games Day.  In the event of a Tie-Breaker, Teams who equal the same point score at the end of Games Day 1, will be invited back onsite at for the Unparalleled Tie Breaker Event for Poll Position.

BUILDING YOUR TEAM

Entry into the Games is with a Team of 4 People.

Your Team will participate in each event, side by side, with 1 or 2 other Teams of 4 until all Stages & Events are completed.

All Teams will be allocated points per Event within each Stage of the Games.

When selecting Team Members, you want to look for people who are:

  • Great Team Players
  • Have strengths in areas of the Gym that perhaps you don’t
  • People you enjoy the company of
  • People who enjoy having a good time + meeting new people!

WHAT EVENTS DO WE PREPARE FOR?

As the Events are announced in the lead up to Games Day, this will allow for a reasonable amount of general preparation for all participants.

Empire Games Events usually have a little flavor for:

  • Strong(wo)men
  • Cardio Kings
  • Powerlifters
  • Footy Lads + Dads
  • Crossfit Queens
  • + the list goes on!

Every Event selected are added to each Stage with consideration for every entry level, with modifications where required.

This provides a fair playing field for all Participants to encourage enhanced Team Work strategizing, opposed to Egocentric participation – Leave Your Egos Behind.

MINI HULK DIVISION

WELCOME MINI HULKS!

  • Mini Hulk Shirts are included for Competitors, however if extra shirts are required, our Operations Team can make some available for purchase on the day for $40 per shirt.
    WAIVER RELEASE & INDEMNIFICATION Primarily, this Competition is meant to be FUN + SAFE! If at any time one of The Empire Bodyshop's Operations Team (referred to as "Empire" deems an activity to be unsafe or pose risk or harm to any Mini Hulk, without penalty, Empire reserve any and all right to ceasing any activity or event at any time. Mini Hulks will require full Parental or Guardian permissions prior to participating in any activity at the Competition to ensure no one gets hurt.
